This publication project was a school project. The task was to create a publication of some kind. To that end, I decided to combine my love of cooking and my love of tabletop games to create Grandma Auldmeide's Home Cooked Games. The book is a collection of classic games using cards, dominoes, boards, and dice. The book explains how to set up and play each of the several dozen games in the style of a cookbook, with the rules for each game phrased as recipes. The book, which was made over the course of about 3 months, includes more than 30 game recipes in 5 categories of difficulty, 20,000 words, custom food photography and about 70 pages.
In order to best recreate the appearance of an aged, classic cook book, I had to take food photos myself. However, the twist of adding games to the mix resulted in some interesting experiments to mash up real food and classic games in the form of photos.
